This is my first BIG battery pack and I love it! I will first start out with the negatives.
When I first looked at the picture of this thing, I loved the size and thought that it would be thin and light weight, but I was wrong, this thing is pretty heavy way heavier than I expected. I thought I would be able to carry this around in my pocket comfortably but unfortunately even though the size is good, the weight is just too heavy in my pocket, but I guess that is how it is for a large battery pack like this. When I first tried plugging in the included cord to charge, I found it really difficult to put the mini usb port into the battery pack, the input area was TOO TIGHT! I had to force it in. I was afraid I was going to break the cord because it was so hard to push in. So basically I think the design of the charging port (mini usb) needs work because it takes way too much strength just to get the cord in so that I can charge this battery pack with the wall charger which I purchased separately. So if you have trouble pushing the charging cord into the battery pack, make sure it is the correct way and give it a hard push in and it should go in. I think it is a flaw in the design that the port is too narrow.
Next is that the instruction manual SUCKS. It doesn’t give that much directions, it only gives basic stuff. When I plugged in the light I didn’t know what was happening because the manual did not tell me what a flashing green light means, only that a green light means it is almost max charged. I wish the manual came with more detail on what the functions are.
The indicator light is decent, you push the button and it flashes a color, green blue or red and that tells you the range that is left inside the battery, I prefer that it tells me with bars rather different colors so that I don’t have to consult the manual to see which color corresponds to how much left. If they gave me some bars I would know how much is left way easier without having to memorize anything.
The area near the charging port gets hot while the device is charging.
The device looks really good, the top is a shiny black color while the bottom is a matte non slip surface. I really love the design and size of this thing besides its weight. So far I have tested this item and it works with all my devices, iPhone iPad etc. It even works with my TI-NSPIRE CX CAS calculator. It charges on my SmartTV and on my computer, but I usually use the charger which I got along with it to charge the device. The New Trent, 10W 5V/2A Dual Port high-speed USB AC wall charger (NT90C/IMP90C) is what I purchased to go along with my battery pack and so far it has worked quite good and I recommend that part since it is compatible since both are made by New Trent.
Tests so far:
Dead iPhone 4S, 0-50% in 1 hour exactly.
The rest of my charges I did not record. The good thing about this device is that it doesn’t get hot while charging my iPhone which is a PLUS.
More to come as I keep using it.
